Yes — they hook directly into the game's entity manager and pull real-time positions of all spawned creatures. Distance and direction are calculated from your character's coordinates. Filter options for which species to display.

Does "infinite oxygen" affect storyline / achievements?

No. Storyline progression and most achievements remain achievable. A small subset of "survival-themed" Steam achievements (like "Survive 24 hours without oxygen tank") are locked if you play with infinite-oxygen enabled — toggle the feature off temporarily to unlock those.
